Welcome to Tiny Tuesday

Today will be a departure from 'tiny', as there is nothing tiny about this author's talent. I am proud to introduce Claire Plaisted.

Congratulations on the release of Double Crossed!!

Hi my name is Claire Plaisted.  I am married with four children and a wonderful life in Rotorua, New Zealand.  I am a Family History Researcher who fell into writing by accident in 2011 while waiting for information for a Family History Book.  It wasn’t GIB though will be published next year.

I write many different genres including children's, young adults, historical and of course GIB which has at least another 3 books to be written.  I have published 10 books so far. All in kindle and a few in paperback.

I am also an Indie Publisher for Indie Authors as well as making photo books, family history books and much more.

Double Crossed is the 5th book in the Garrett Investigation Bureau Series, though it is in fact the 6th book due to the prequel ‘Hidden Agenda,” which is the third book I wrote.  Confused…Yeah I’m good like that.

Double Crossed is about Jones, a man of mystery who has been around for a long time.  I would call him a Double Agent, others might call him a Slave serving a Master.  Who is he really and what does he have to do to get his life in order?
Follow him and a team of security agents though time, torture, paranormal, and even a cult to see if his life is worth saving.  Can he be a hero after all?

Where it all started.

Garrett Investigations Bureau was born in 2013 and first published on 7th November 2013.  This was my first official Series.

MANIC MONDAY

My reviews for this week

DEFYING DARKNESS BY THANNA A SETLIFF

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book by Ms. Setliff. Her characters are well developed and the reader is given privy to their thoughts, gaining further insight into their true natures. Maire and Dorian begin their relationship under dire circumstances, but quickly discover an instant attraction. Will her Sire, a powerful vampire, be able to regain control over her, or can Dorian save her from his grasp?
Other characters are introduced, providing enrichment to this story. Dorian and his brother, Antonius, will have you chuckling at their loving, brotherly banter.
Congratulations, Ms. Setliff, on your first publication. I look forward to many more. 5 stars.

PLANET WOMAN BY JUDITH ROOK

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and appreciate the referral from a friend. I now am an avid fan of Ms. Rook's stories. There is so much to this book... romance, a sentient planet known as Circe, characters that give added side stories, as well as intrigue and danger.

Tethyn, who lives on the sentient planet, is given the task of introducing Lewis, an envoy from First Home, to Circe, taking him to her secret home where Circe resides. Lewis desires Tethyn, but she is reluctant to surrender herself to him, wishing to retain her independence.
As Lewis meets and talks to Circe through Tethyn, he realizes the importance of this encounter to him as well as his planet. He leaves profoundly affected, realizing there is more to Circe than she is willing to share.
Danger appears, as others known to Lewis from First Home make several attempts to control the situation, wishing to gain power and prestige for themselves.

Written with intelligence, grace, and empathy, I found this book to be a fascinating journey, one remembered long after the book was finished. Well done, Ms. Rook. 5 stars.

IN TIMES OF VIOLENCE BY KARINA KANTAS

Having not read anything in this genre, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Jade, the main character, is flawed like the rest of us, leaving her unhappy home to find her niche in the world. Attracted to the leader of a biker gang, she makes herself known to him, gradually gaining a place as his girlfriend. The life they lead is fascinating, and she is accepted as one of the family, giving her the confidence she has always wanted.

The story takes place over a period of time, and love, betrayal, and danger run throughout. I like the way Ms. Kantas weaves her spell, one that will have you looking forward to the next book in this series.

Well done. 5 stars.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0075WWJJ6

FINALLY FRIDAY

"MOXIE"
by
Barbara Chioffi

They always said I had it. What, you ask? Moxie. And I was about to prove it. Walk across this footbridge as an initiation into the Bitches? Easier said than done. The footbridge in question was missing more slats than were present—its boards were rotted and ropes frayed, and I was expected to reach the other side in one piece? Right.

Placing a foot on the first slat, I tentatively stepped forward, feeling it snap beneath my weight. The Bitches laughed gleefully while, a hundred feet below, the rocks waited patiently, seeming to look up in anticipation.

Standing there, I took stock of my predicament and what had brought me to this moment. New to the school, I had been approached by the Queen Bitch, Serena, saying they had noticed me right away and thought I would be a good candidate for their group, and, flattered, I had agreed.

The Bitches, I learned from my neighbor, were legendary . . . beautiful and popular, with football-player boyfriends, one of whom I had met on the first day. We chatted during lunch on several occasions, which had solicited the attention of Queen Serena and inspired the subsequent invitation.

Now, looking to the girls watching eagerly, I smiled to myself, once again putting a foot on the next slat. Instantly it gave way, causing me to lurch forward. Holding onto the guide rope, I faltered, looking backward to see the girls slapping hands. “That’ll teach her to think she’d ever be with us,” I heard one of them say as I lost my grip. “One less to worry about.”

Falling, I heard their cheers echoing throughout the canyon. I smiled, because the change took place in seconds. My mind flashed with memories of the first time this had happened to me, the pain and the fear. Now, with skin morphing to scales, bones extending, fingers changing to clawed talons, I reveled in the power and rose, spreading my wings, filling the canyon, delighting in their size and strength. Drawing a breath, the last thing I registered before releasing it was the three of them, frozen in fear with unbelieving eyes what was before them, a beast straight from myth and legend.

I incinerated the Bitches in a bath of flame, chuckling to myself. Moxie, indeed.

Barb

WACKY WEDNESDAY

Every Wednesday, I'll pick a topic and post things of interest. Today it's cats, and the fact that I have nine might have something to do with it. :)

See what you can add to the list.

I think cat lovers everywhere have seen this look.

Cats are definitely mysterious...here's why. :)

Cats can be entertained by the simplest things.

I can't resist this one.

Hello and a happy Tiny Tuesday to you!

For today, I'd like to share a few tinys, hopefully to make you smile.
Think of a caption for each picture.

...one more

Love those smiles. I can feel them.

Sometimes, we need to put aside our troubles and concerns and look at something that takes us away. I know I'm being simplistic. My son says I'm an optimist and a dreamer, and maybe he is right. I do believe, however, that we all need a little of the simpler things from time to time. Look around you...they're everywhere. Take some time to rest your mind. Listen to music, draw or color, take a walk in the woods, breathe in the fresh air. Take care of your soul.

I know. I'm a nag. :)

Peace,
Barb
